Due to concerns over COVID-19, the Special Olympics Spring Games will not be going ahead as planned.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service and Special Olympics Ontario announced Wednesday that the games have been postponed.
They were scheduled to start on May 21.
"Our focus, like yours, is on our families, friends, neighbours and the communities where we live," said Glenn MacDonell, President and CEO of Special Olympics Ontario. "This will be very difficult on our athletes who have qualified and were looking forward to competing against their peers on a Provincial stage."
The police chief is also thanking those who stepped up to show their support.
A future date will be shared when available.
