The annual Sounds of Christmas concert series in support of KidsAbility kicks off Friday, November 23rd. Nicole Guse began the concerts six years ago after her son, Joshua, benefited from the programs offered through KidsAbility. The concert series has raised more than $100,000 since its inception. GRAN KW has organized #HearMeToo to support the United Nations’ ‘Orange The World’ campaign to end violence against women. A community forum is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th at Christ Lutheran Church (Lexington and Davenport) in Waterloo. The forum features speakers from Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, the Waterloo Region Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Program, the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region, and the Domestic Violence Investigation Branch of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. The panel discussion runs from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. http://grandmothersadvocacy.org/issue/orange-campaign  

The historic Joseph Schneider Haus in Kitchener is gearing up for its annual Christmas Open House. Head for 466 Queen Street South on Friday, December 7th and enjoy musical entertainment by the fireplace while sampling traditional treats and warm cider. The Friends of Joseph Schneider Haus will also be announcing the 2019 Folk Artist-in-Residence and Edna Staebler Research Fellow.
