OPP identify Conestogo Lake drowning victim, GoFundMe started for family (update)

The body of Matthew Reynold Ottens, 33, of Mapleton Township was recovered Sunday evening
Conestogo Lake.

Ontario Provincial Police have provided an update on a tragic incident at Conestogo Lake. 

It's reported a man attempted to rescue a child who jumped off a boat and into the water. The child was recovered but the man did not resurface.

Search efforts persisted for several hours on Sunday before the man's body was found last night. 

He has been identified as 33-year-old Matthew Ottens of Mapleton Township. 

A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Monday.

A GoFundMe was launched for Ottens' family and has raised more than $26,000.
