Police in Woodstock have come out with reminders on trailer towing after an unusual traffic call Thursday afternoon.

They were called to the Dundas West and 11th Line area around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, for reports of a Porsche towing a homemade cart, which had a hot tub on it.

Police located the vehicle, and charged a 54-year old man with careless driving.

They say drivers are responsible for securing their loads before hitting the road.

They say before towing, the driver must do the following:

  • Ensure the trailer is registered
  • Make sure the trailer is in good condition
  • Requires strong brakes to stop and hold the trailer
  • Must have proper lights
  • Must have two separate ways of attaching the trailer to your vehicle
  • Need to use a good trailer hitch
  • Carry a safe load that is balanced evenly
