Crash shuts down Wellington Road 124 east of Guelph (update)

The incident involved a fuel truck and SUV

Provincial police closed Wellington Road 124 east of Guelph following a motor vehicle crash.

The crash happened Monday just before 9 a.m. near Watson Road, and involved a fuel truck and a SUV. Both ended up in the ditch.

A truck carrying fuel flipped onto its side and the SUV was badly damaged.

Fire crews and a heavy-duty tow truck were on scene attempting to get the truck out of the ditch.

"We have heavy tows on the scene but they're in the process of trying to right the truck and then they’re going to have another tanker show up and move the fuel from one truck to another," said OPP spokesperson Cst. Joshua Cunningham.

He said there was no fuel leak.

Cunningham did not have any update on possible injuries.

Wellington Road 124 reopened just before 3 p.m.
