A Waterloo man is facing several charges after allegedly barricading himself inside a home in the city.

Police were called to a residence on Albert Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday, after getting reports of a man in distress.

When officers arrived, they say a man barricaded himself inside.

Police breached the door to get inside after they heard yelling and became concerned for the safety of those in the residence.

A man then allegedly struck two officers, who eventually were able to gain control of the suspect and take him into custody.

Both officers were treated at the scene by parademics for minor injuries.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assaulting police.
