Waterloo Regional Police Constable Terilee Shisler has been presented with the 2021 Youth Service Volunteer Award from the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP).
The award recognizes an Ontario police officer who has contributed through volunteerism in an exceptional way that leads to the overall well-being of youth.
Constable Shisler volunteers at a program called REACH for It! - which supports children/youth living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). She has also served with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past 15 years.
She also recently started the Just Girl Stuff Program for girls in grades 7 and 8 to prepare them for high school, and is also currently mentoring a young woman who has been diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa.
Cherri Greeno, WRPS' manager of corporate communications and public information, was also presented with the OACP/OMRON Catherine Martin Award of Excellence in Media Relations.
The award acknowledges a member of a police service who has demonstrated consistent dedication and professionalism in the use of media and social media to highlight the profession of policing in their community.
