Regional police arrest Stratford man in connection with human trafficking probe

Police allege a man had obtained sexual services from a victim, and also later benefited financially from the victim being in the sex trade

The joint human trafficking team of Waterloo Regional Police and police in Guelph, have arrested a 31-year-old Stratford man as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged human trafficking.

Police say they launched their investigation in April after receiving information a man had obtained sexual services from a victim, and also later benefited financially from the victim being in the sex trade.

The arrest was made on Wednesday.

The accused faces three counts of obtain sexual services for consideration. He was released on an undertaking.

Police say the victim has also been provided with a safety plan and community resources as part of the Human Trafficking Crisis Intervention program.
