Police investigate crash in Kitchener involving pedestrian and transport (update)

One person has been sent to hospital after a crash involving a pedestrian and a transport truck in Kitchener.

It happened just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of Courtland Avenue East and Hayward Avenue. 

Police say the truck was heading north on Courtland when the driver allegedly struck a pedestrian, attempting to cross the road, travelling west.

A 59-year-old man was taken to a hospital outside the region with serious injuries.

Police also say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours, but have since reopened.
