Waterloo Regional Police say one person was airlifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries after a crash in Kitchener.

It happened Saturday just after 3 p.m. in the area of Kinzie Avenue and River Road.

Police tell 570 NEWS a person on a mountain bike with a gas power engine turned into a vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries.

The rider was airlifted to hospital.

The intersection of Kinzie and River was closed for five hours for the police investigation.

No word yet if any charges are pending.
