A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of a Cambridge man who was fatally shot on Saturday evening.

Mark Chaves, 19, was killed at a home on Birkinshaw Road.

A family friend who is behind the GoFundMe page said they want to help alleviate some of the burden his family has already incurred to help with funeral expenses.

"We just want to give the family all the monetary support, love and help that we can during this sad time," Megan Drinkwater said in a post on the GoFundMe page.

The goal is to raise $35,000 and as of 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, over $50,000 has already been donated. Any additional funds will go toward the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Chaves is survived by his parents, brother and grandparents.

A funeral will be held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Cambridge on Monday at 11 a.m. You can see more details by clicking here

18-year-old Alex Resendes of Cambridge has been charged with second-degree murder and is due to make another court appearance on Monday.

It's the region's seventh homicide of 2020.
