Waterloo Regional Police say the death of a two-year-old boy in Waterloo is now being treated as a homicide.

The boy died of his injuries on Sunday.

On Friday morning, police responded to a medical distress call at a home on Forsyth Drive.

Life-saving measures were performed by the responding officers and paramedics, and both the boy and a woman were transported to hospital.

On Monday, the child's mother - a 38-year-old woman - died of what police believe were self-inflicted injuries.

Police are not looking for any other suspects.

But anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
