Charge laid following crash in Cambridge (update)

On Friday, September 18, 2020, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Franklin Boulevard near Can-Amera Parkway in Cambridge for a collision involving a motor vehicle and an e-bike.

A transport truck was traveling north on Franklin Boulevard in lane one.

The driver of the e-bike was travelling in the same direction in the curb lane.

The driver of a Toyota Camry was also travelling north on Franklin Boulevard when they attempted to pass the e-bike. While doing so, the driver of the Camry struck the e-bike.

The driver of the e-bike, a 57-year-old Cambridge male was transported to hospital with major, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Camry, a 63-year-old Cambridge female has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services unit is appealing for witnesses and/or dash camera footage of the collision.
