Arrest made in connection with three assaults

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest in connection with three separate assaults.

The assaults, which are being treated as hate-motivated, happened Monday morning on King Street West in Kitchener.

Around 11 a.m., three women were walking along King when they were approached and allegedly assaulted by an unknown man.

The suspect left prior to officers arriving on scene, but was later located.

A 44-year-old man faces charges including assault (three counts), strangulation and possession of a Schedule 1 substance. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The victims were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
