It just wasn't their night.
A potential celebration put on hold, another shot at greatness still waiting in the wings for Toronto Raptors fans across Canada.
That includes here in Waterloo Region, where despite some late-afternoon rain and wind gusts, fans still came out in droves to public viewings in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
"Was looking for the win, looking to celebrate a bit, it would've been pretty exciting if we had won, everyone would've gone crazy," said one fan, "It was still a great atmosphere though, and I had a great night."
Others believe the Raptors will come back strong in Game 6.
"I have full faith," another fan replied, "They've been playing well, and it was a close game."
Game 6 goes Thursday night in Oakland. And pending any weather woes, viewing parties will be set up once again.
