The start of 2018-19 Ontario Hockey League regular season is less than a month away.

Individual tickets for the Kitchener Rangers went on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Their home and season opener will be against the Flint Firebirds on Friday, September 21.

The head coach of the Rangers is excited to get camp underway tonight.

"Every year you want to see who's put the work in over the summer, who wants to come and be a leader, and who wants to step up and take their game to the next level," Jay McKee told 570 NEWS.

McKee is expecting a few players to play key roles.

"You look at your older guys, your vets, your 19-year-olds ... guys like Meireles (Greg), McHugh (Nick), Joe Garreffa has been a key player for us over the years, he's now 19. Rickard Hugg is a guy that was heating up towards the end of last season, was playing really well with Team Sweden at the World Junior Summer Games ... we think he's going to be in for a bigger, more productive season."

If Connor Bunnaman and Adam Mascherin stick in the NHL or AHL, the Rangers could be without the services of nine players who were part of last year's team that took the Soo Greyhounds to seven games in the Western Conference Final.

Mario Culina, Kole Sherwood and Austin McEneny were the overagers last season, Adam Liska will also not be back as he has returned to Europe. Logan Stanley, Logan Brown and Givani Smith could also possibly make the jump to the next level.

"It's really opening up, not only more ice time, but key situations. There's going to be new guys on the power play, it's something we're going to have to work a lot on," explained McKee.

The players and coaches hit the ice tonight at 7 o'clock at The Aud, with another practice at 8 p.m. You can view the training camp rosters here.

All practices and games are free to attend. Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:
