Panthers stretch winning streak to three games

Kitchener downed Hamilton 8-5 on Thursday night

The Kitchener Panthers kept pace with Barrie for first place in the IBL after an 8-5 win over the Hamilton Cardinals Thursday night at Jack Couch Park. 

Kitchener (22-9) trails the Baycats by 1.5 games. 

Mike Glinka led the offence with three RBI, including a two-run double in the Panthers' three-run eighth. Mike Andrulis, Yorbis Borroto, Colin Gordner and Brian Burton each drove in a run. 

Adam Leader doubled and scored twice, and Zach Johnson added two hits and a run.

Mike Schnurr (4-0) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief. He yielded one hit and struck out three. 

Noelvis Entenza started and went six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts. 

Chris Beer drove in all five Hamilton runs on four hits, while Zackary Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base. Grant Arnold singled twice, while David Vanderby and Greg Marco each had a hit and a run. 

Nick Jambrosic (0-1) took the loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts over two innings. 

Chris Lazar started and went six innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with two walks.

The Cardinals dropped to 13-18.
