The Kitchener Panthers are back in first place.

But that's been the theme for most of the year, as they and the Barrie Baycats have been playing hopscotch with the top spot in the IBL all season.

Tanner Nivins, Zarley Cina and Andy Leader all went deep in the third inning, fuelling a 10-4 home win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night.

Leader hit a lead-off homer, while Nivins crushed a two-run shot and Cina finished off the six-run frame with a three-run home run.

Yoennis Yera pitched six innings of seven-hit ball, surrendering two runs and striking out eight.

Meantime, Barrie lost 8-4 to the last place Brantford Red Sox.

That means the Panthers leapfrog the Baycats into first by half a game.

The Baycats and Red Sox meet again Wednesday night.

The Panthers, meanwhile, are home to London Thursday and Guelph Friday.

Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
