Kitchener native Loren Gabel had a power play goal to help propel Toronto's Team Sonnet to an 8-3 win over Calgary's Team Scotiabank at the PWHPA's Secret Dream Gap tour Wednesday.

Brittany Howard produced a hat trick and Jamie Lee Rattray added a pair of goals for Toronto, while Victoria Bach and Madison Field had the other goals.

Meaghan Mikkelson, Blayre Turnbull and Sarah Potomak replied for Calgary.

Three teams of 20 players in the Professional Women's Hockey Players' Association's three Canadian hubs of Calgary, Toronto and Montreal are playing to hoist the Secret Cup trophy Sunday at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Gabel isn't the only local content in the tournament, as Toronto's head coach is Waterloo native Laura McIntosh.

The win pushes Toronto to 1-1 on the tournament, and will be looking for revenge Thursday against Montreal, who beat Toronto 3-2 in the tournament opener Monday.

Thursday's game starts at 5:00 p.m. and can be streamed online on Sportsnet NOW.
