The Intercounty Baseball League is getting ready to play ball as of June 3.

On Wednesday morning, the league released its schedule for 2021.

The Kitchener Panthers will start the campaign at home to the Hamilton Cardinals on Thursday, June 3.

70 per cent of the games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with each team set to play 36 games in total.

On June 26, the Panthers will meet the defending champion Barrie Baycats for the first time in a re-match of the 2019 final that saw Barrie capture the championship in six games.

“We are hopeful that the IBL has baseball in 2021 and we are releasing a modified schedule based on a June 1 start date.” IBL Commissioner John Kastner said in a release. “This is of course tentative and based on a myriad of factors outside of our control including vaccine availability, mass immunization rollout and most importantly restrictions and allowances based on the province’s emergency orders.”

You can find the entire 2021 schedule here.

There was no IBL season in 2020 due to the pandemic.
