A key recruiting announcement for the football club at Wilfrid Laurier University.
The Golden Hawks have received a commitment from Taylor Elgersma.
Considered one of the top quarterback prospects in Ontario, the 6-foot-5 and 205 pound Elgersma, played for Oakridge Secondary School and is a former member of the London Jr. Mustangs of the Ontario Provincial Football League.
"Adding a quarterback as big, strong and intelligent as Taylor to this recruiting class is fantastic," exclaimed Golden Hawks Head Coach Michael Faulds.
"Taylor was at our High School Camp last spring and we were super impressed with how he threw the ball and how he carries himself. What is equally impressive is that he wants to study kinesiology and has over a 90 percent average. We feel confident that we are getting a very high end, all-round student-athlete."
In his final year of high school, Elgersma threw for almost 1,500 yards.
"I am excited to compete for the Golden Hawks," said Elgersma.
"I think it’s an amazing opportunity to help this team win and continue success. The program is a great fit for me and I'm thankful to be a part of it."
