Thought-provoking films made by women will be showcased over the next three days in the region.
The eighth annual Zonta Film Festival begins on Thursday.
The opening reception begins at 5 p.m. at the Princess Twin in Waterloo.
"A Better Man" and "The Big Flip" will be among the first films to be screened.
Both start at 6 p.m. at the Princess Twin.
"You know, there's a real niche here ... most films, I think it's 92 per cent are made by men," Festival co-chair, Melissa Durrell, told The Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS.
"The idea is to really showcase some of these female filmmakers and the stories that they're telling."
Durrell adds they try and choose films that make people think.
All proceeds from the festival go to non-profits and charities in the area.
