WRPS hosts second annual Polar Plunge (4 photos)

All the proceeds will being going towards Special Olympics Ontario

Dignitaries, residents and even some of our own from 570 NEWS will be taking the plunge.

The polar plunge is being hosted by the Waterloo Regional Police Service and will benefit Special Olympics Ontario.

"All the proceeds go to Special Olympics Ontario, we have over 600 athletes going to Waterloo Region in May for the Special Olympic games. We just want to make sure they come, they experience a really great time, and a lot of the costs that are associated with the games are taken care of for these athletes," said Cherri Greeno, Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Information with WRPS.

She said there are big numbers this year.

"We have about 90 plungers lined up to take part in the event, which is really exciting, its a lot more then we had last year."

If you still want to participate you can register on site.

The polar plunge will take place on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Wilfrid Laurier University Stadium.
