Woman arrested in connection with death of child in Kitchener

Police received a 911 call Thursday afternoon about a child in distress

Waterloo Regional Police say they have arrested a Kitchener woman in connection to an investigation involving the death of a child.

Police say over the noon hour Thursday, they responded to a home on Heritage Drive after getting a 911 call about a child in distress.

When officers arrived, then found a girl, 20 months old, without vital signs.

Both police and paramedics performed CPR at the scene.

The child was then taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem is scheduled to be done on Friday.

A 27-year-old woman has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and is due in court Friday.

Police have not released a name.
