Students from Wilfrid Laurier have created a venture fund to help support the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
According to Enactus Laurier, Food Fight is a venture under their portfolio which is focusing on reducing food waste and addressing food security challenges within the region.
In a post on their GoFundMe page, the group says the COVID-19 situation has had several adverse effects on many people in their community, which has led to increased strain on food services and availability in Waterloo Region.
As a result, the group says they started Food Fight with the goal of raising $1,000 as they believe everyone should have access to safe and healthy food.
According to their page, every dollar donated goes towards providing three healthy meals for people within the community.
So far, the group has raised $710.
