Winter won't stop some local golfers from enjoying the game

GolfNorth is keeping some of its properties open

Winter is coming, and so is winter golf.

GolfNorth operates several properties, including a handful in Waterloo Region.

The company has announced that some of its courses will stay open over the winter season as, "Golfing in Canada shouldn't just be a summer activity."

The game will be slightly altered for the snowy experience, and will be completely free for GolfNorth members.

For starters, there won't be tees, there will be stakes in most cases. No power carts will be permitted, just pull carts.

If you're worried about damaging your clubs, there are protective mats that will be available; golfers should also bring brightly coloured balls, as white ones will be tough to find in the snow.

Limited food and drinks are set to be available, but each course will operate a bit differently. The main premise at all of them will be to just have fun outdoors, while following COVID-19 protocols.

You can see a list of participating courses below, or check-in frequently with GolfNorth's website and social media channels for updates.

- Brookfield (Cambridge)

- The Fox (Granton)

- Forest Golf Club and Inn (Forest)

- Rebel Creek (Petersburg)

- Trafalgar (Milton)

- Conestoga (Conestogo)

- Fox Bridge (Uxbridge)

- Foxwood (Baden)
