The Apple Butter & Cheese Festival committee in Wellesley is reporting net income over over $39,000 from the 2018 event.

Proceeds go to major community projects within the village.

In the past, funds have been used in the creation of sports facilities and to buy equipment for the fire department and schools.

The committee is now accepting proposals for new projects.

Meantime, Bob Reid is stepping down after 25 years as committee chair. Jamie Reid will take over.

The 2019 festival will take place on September 28.
