Waterloo Region registered a humidex for the first time in 2021 on Thursday.

Environment Canada confirmed the details to 570 NEWS.

Around 3 p.m., the Region of Waterloo International Airport recorded a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, with a humidex of 24.

A spokesperson with the national weather agency said the last time we saw a humidex locally was on November 10, 2020.

We got close on March 25 of this year when temperatures surpassed 20 degrees, but there wasn't enough humidity to trigger the index.
