The Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area and Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest are planning something different in the city to celebrate the annual festival.
In lieu of the annual mayor's Oktoberfest luncheon and barrel race, this year, Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky, council and the BIA will host the Mayor's Oktoberfest Market.
It will take place in the parking lot of city hall on October 2 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The market will feature a variety of local vendors and special Oktoberfest-themed performances.
“Oktoberfest is a long-standing tradition in our community and we wanted to find a way to continue the celebration in a safe, responsible way,” Mayor Jaworsky said in a news release. “The market allows community members to support local business, while also getting into the ‘wunderbar’ Oktoberfest spirit!”
