Uptown Waterloo to host Open Streets on June 22

At a separate event, designs will also be unveiled for new skateboard parks, as well as a new bike park

With two amazing events and free public transportation, uptown Waterloo is the place to be on Saturday, June 22, 2019. 

Open Streets presented by HIP Developments 

Open Streets is back on the street! Join us on Willis Way for a great line-up of artists, activities, demos, and performances. 

Saturday, June 22
Noon - 5 p.m.
Willis Way, uptown Waterloo 

This family-friendly, free event features a street art theme complete with b-boy/b-girl competition, a scratch DJ showcase, a market place, community picnic, and street art paintings. 

Open Streets celebrates the livable cities movement and we are excited to open Willis Way to pedestrians only, to host this popular event. For more information, visit 

Action sport park design unveiling 

We are planning new skateboard parks at Albert McCormick Community Centre, Stork Family YMCA/John M. Harper Branch Library and RIM Park, as well as a bike park at RIM Park. In January this year, over 300 people provided input into the features and design for these parks, and we invite the community to attend the design unveiling.

Skatepark, Father David Bauer Drive 

Consultants from NewLine Skateparks will be onsite to display the designs, collect feedback and answer questions. There will also be a draw for six skateboards and one bike, for those who completed our feedback survey. The agenda for the event is as follows:
