Two Stratford men arrested in connection with disturbance in New Hamburg

Two men from Stratford have been charged following a disturbance in New Hamburg.

Police were called to the area of Huron Street and Wilmot Street shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday.

During their investigation, police learned a male had been involved in a relationship with a 16-year-old female.

Individuals known to the female arranged a meeting with the male. When he arrived, two males allegedly got into his vehicle and forced him to drive. Police say he was assaulted, and one of the suspects also brandished a knife.

The victim was able to get away and call 911. Two males were then arrested at the scene by police.

Two men, 25 and 34, have been jointly charged with kidnapping, robbery, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.
