The union representing our local paramedics is sounding the alarm as the amount of "Code Red" periods continues to rise.
A "Code Red" is triggered when there are not enough ambulances to respond to the amount of calls coming in.
Waterloo Region Medics with CUPE 5191 tweeting there were were multiple instances that occurred Sunday night alone, with no ambulances available for over an hour.
They're thanking the Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service for lending a hand.
There have been several "Code Red" and "Code Yellow" instances since Christmas Eve.
