Thousands of hens, three horses die in barn fire

Over 2,000 laying hens and three horses have died following a barn fire near St. Jacobs.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Three Bridges Road at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Woolwich Fire tells 570 NEWS they were able to get over 100 head of cattle out in time, but were not able to save the hens or horses.

The barn was destroyed, with damage estimated around $1 million.

The cause is undetermined.
