Swimmers will have to wait a few more days to jump into a city-run pool in Kitchener

They will open Monday at 25 per cent capacity

Janet Zomer-Beer is Interim Manager of Aquatics with the City of Kitchener, and says they are very excited to see pools open under the province's Stage One reopening plan.

She says they learned a few things last summer during the first months of the pandemic.

Swimmers will follow pandemic protocols, are being asked to shower ahead of time, and will be pre-screened.

This season swimmers will have to pre-register for their swim time --- limited for now to family swims, lane swims and fitness classes.

Family-based swimming lessons start in July at the Harry Class, Idlewood and Wilson outdoor pools.

Zomer-Beer says "We do have limited capacity for swim lessons, classes are smaller, and only offered at the outdoor pools to start. We do expect the programs to fill quickly."

Registration for lessons open on Tuesday, June 15th.
