The suspect in the fatal house explosion on Sprucedale Crescent in Kitchener is due back in court later this month.
Udo Haan, 58, appeared briefly this morning via phone from his hospital bed.
Haan is expected to appear in person at his next court appearance on Wednesday, October 24.
He's charged with first degree murder, arson disregard for human life, as well as two counts of arson damage to property.
A publication ban has been placed on evidence.
Police made the arrest on Monday.
Haan's wife, Edra Haan, 58, was killed in the explosion on August 22.
One home was demolished and two others suffered extensive damage.
