There was a lot of Yuletide heartache in the community after news broke that this year's Santa Claus parades were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It seems the Big Man in Red just couldn't let Waterloo Region down though, as he'll be participating in a pair of 'reverse parades' next month.

The events are being put on by the Lions Club of Kitchener.

Families will be able to hop in their cars, drive by the stationary floats, and tune into CHYM 96.7 to enjoy some Christmas music.

At both events, officials with the fire department and food bank will be on hand to collect toy and food donations, while helpers from Canada Post can take any letters for Santa.

The first 'reverse parade' is happening at The Aud in Kitchener on Saturday, November 14. Waterloo's will take place at the Grey Silo Golf Course on Saturday, November 21.
