A group of Cambridge residents are setting up a Poppy Project this year.
They're looking for residents to make and contribute knitted or crocheted poppies which will be displayed on the front of the Idea Exchange buildings located in Queen’s Square, Preston and Hespeler.
It's being described as a community art project of Remembrance designed to honour Veterans and celebrate our community.
The project committee has partnered with local branches of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Idea Exchange, as well as the City of Cambridge.
Their goal is to collect 10,000 poppies, which will then be used to create the art installation.
It will be on display from October 29 to November 12.
The committee said it has also received approval from the Royal Canadian Legion, as the poppy is trademarked, adding all appropriate poppy protocols will be followed.
Those who don't knit or crochet, can create poppies in other mediums that will be used to form a complimentary display.
