19 new officers will join the ranks of Waterloo Regional Police on Thursday afternoon.

Members of Recruit Class #101 recently completed their basic training at the Ontario Police College.

Prior to joining the service the new members studied in a variety of fields, including education, nursing and kinesiology.

"We are thrilled to welcome Class #101 to the WRPS team and to introduce them to the community," Waterloo Regional Police Chief, Bryan Larkin said in a release. "Each of these new officers bring unique backgrounds, experiences and skills to our Service. They are eager to serve the residents of Waterloo Region and keep our community safe. We are excited to have them join the Waterloo Regional Police Service."

The ceremony will start at 1 p.m. in Lazaridis Hall, located on the Waterloo campus of Wilfrid Laurier University.
