Pair of Cambridge projects win international design awards

The Queens Square reconstruction project and the Old Post Office Restoration project have both won Architecture Masterprize awards

The City of Cambridge is pleased to announce that the Queens Square reconstruction project and the Old Post Office Restoration project have both won 2018 Architecture Masterprize awards. Architecture Masterprize honours designs in the disciplines of architecture, interior design and landscape architecture with the goal of advancing the appreciation of architecture worldwide. 

Queen’s Square reconstruction

The Queen’s Square project was honoured with an award in the category of Landscape Architecture / Small Scale Landscape Projects. Reconstruction work on the fountain and surrounding area was completed in 2017 and included new paving, benches, planting areas, improved sightlines and accessibility upgrades.   

Old Post Office restoration

The Old Post Office project received its award in the category of Architectural Design/ Restoration & Renovation. Officially re-opening in the summer of 2018, the work aimed to strike a balance between the new and the historical with modern additions and heritage restorations.
