***Update: Fireworks will not happen Sunday night due to the wind. Sunday activities, including fireworks, will be moved to Monday. They will post an updated schedule on their website***
Volunteers in the community are hosting their annual Victoria Day Weekend celebration in New Dundee.
Everything gets underway at the New Dundee Community Centre and New Dundee Community Park Sunday May 19 and Monday May 20.
Jen Tate, Chair of the New Dundee Fireworks Committee says the event will be slightly different this year.
"We have incorporated a band after the fireworks, so hopefully people can stick around a little longer and watch the band."
She says over 3,000 people are expected to attend, and the addition of the band after the fireworks will help reduce heavy traffic as families leave.
The excitement gets underway Sunday at 5 p.m., but you can also head back Monday at 9 a.m. for more fun activities including community-wide garage sales, vendor, rides, live bands, car show, and the Victoria Day Parade.
This event free and open to everyone, but donations will be accepted at the event.
"Fireworks are funded by donations only," says Tate. "It is literally our towns residents that have helped us to bring this back."
