Ontario Provincial Police say they have responded to 33 fatal transport truck-related collisions so far this year, marking a 38 per cent increase when compared to this time last year.
OPP say 41 people have died in those crashes.
In West Region (which includes Waterloo Region), there have been nine fatal transport truck collisions, that's an increase of 12.5 per cent.
Police say they have investigated over 3,600 crashes involving transports this year, which represent 11 per cent of the total number of collisions.
The OPP's Conduct Operation Safe Trucking campaign begins on Sunday.
Officers will be on the lookout for aggressive driving, distracted/inattentive driving, as well as hours of service and equipment violations.
