A local post-secondary institution is looking to honour outstanding individuals in our community.

Nominations are now open for the Order of Wilfrid Laurier, as well as honorary degrees from the university.

In a release, officials with Laurier said honorary degree recipients can include individuals who have made outstanding contributions in Waterloo Region and abroad.

They should also reflect the university's values, but cannot be active politicians, or current members of the Board of Governors or Senate.

As for recipients of the Order of Wilfrid Laurier, the requirements state they must, "Have a record of exemplary and distinguished service to the university. The award is available to any current or former member of the university, and to those representing the university in the community."

If you know someone worthy, you can fill out an online nomination form.
