If you know of someone who has helped enhance the quality of life in Waterloo, you are being asked to nominate them for the city's highest civic honour - the Waterloo Award.

They are asking you to include a description of the nominee's achievements and contributions.

The city says you should consider the following categories when submitting a nomination:

  • Innovation: Has the nominee introduced a new idea, technology, program or methodology that improves our community?
  • Impact: Have the nominee’s contributions significantly influenced our community’s well-being economically, socially, environmentally or culturally?
  • Leadership: Has the nominee demonstrated the ability to inspire and move others?

Three letters of support are also needed to complete the submission.

For more information, and to submit your nomination online, please visit

The nomination period ends at 4 p.m. on June 19.

The 2019 recipients will be recognized at a city council meeting on October 28.
