FROM THE OFFICE OF KITCHENER-CONESTOGA MPP MIKE HARRIS
Today, Mike Harris, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga and Amy Fee, MPP for Kitchener South-Hespeler announced the launch of a website to help small and medium-sized businesses access COVID-19 supports. The Relief within Reach Waterloo Region site includes links to provincial business supports, such as:
- Ontario Small Business Support Grant which provides eligible businesses with between $10,000 and $20,000
- Main Street Recovery Grant for personal protective equipment
- Rebates for property taxes and energy costs
Information on federal programs including the Canada Emergency Business Account and Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy are also available on the site.
"Small and medium-sized businesses in Waterloo Region have faced unprecedented challenges over the past year and our government has stepped up to support them. We want our local entrepreneurs to access these programs in a quick, convenient way so they can spend their time focused on their business rather than navigating government websites," said MPP Mike Harris and MPP Amy Fee.
The Relief within Reach site also includes the Digital Main Street program to help small and medium-sized businesses transition to ecommerce so they can continue their operations while their store fronts may be limited. Already, 35 small businesses in Waterloo Region have received support from the Digital Transformation Grant and $250,000 in provincial funding has been provided to transform local businesses digitally.
"Local businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises, appreciate relevant information on provincial support programs and this new website will assist them on quickly securing available funds," said Art Sinclair, Vice President of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.
Applications for all provincial and federal programs are now open. Businesses requiring assistance applying for provincial support can call 1-855-216-3090 or contact MPP Harris's or MPP Fee's constituency offices.
