This week is Mental Health Week, and the Canadian Mental Health Association is marking the second time they're celebrating virtually.
CEO for CMHA Waterloo Wellington Helen Fishburn says this is the most essential and vital week for Mental Health Week. We are still in the most challenging part of the third wave and have already gone through 15 devastating months of the pandemic.
"This week really represents for Waterloo Wellington members to pause and reflect. To make sure we are recharging our batteries to focus on your own mental health, resilience, self-care, and wellness and to really get grounded."
Fishburn adds that several webinars are happening this week that will really engage and navigate people in helping their own mental health and those around them.
"Some of the events include the first one, May 4th, Finding the Balance with COVID-19. May 5th, we have two tomorrow, the first Coping with Isolation and Loneliness and a special one for men focusing on men's mental health. She adds that the event will be facilitated by men for men to promote their own wellness.
CMHA is sharing its campaign nationally with #GetReal with how you feel. They are encouraging everyone - when we name how we think, it helps us understand and process our emotions-which is all a part of good mental health.
