"We can’t wait to see you… one last time".

That’s the message from Marten’s Furniture Wonderland, as the furniture store announced via its Facebook Page that it will be closing permanently. After 49 years of business in the region, the owner of the store has decided to retire.

The store’s Facebook page has been flooded with local residents sharing their own personal experiences of buying furniture from the shop, with some sharing their favourite pieces and best wishes for their sales staff. The Facebook page also features a farewell video, with footage from the store’s television commericals of the 80s accompanied by the somber message that “all good things must come to an end”.

The store is now holding a “Farewell Retirement Closing Sale”, with the Marten’s Furniture Wonderland website stating that everything must be sold “to the bare walls”.

The date of the store’s closure has not yet been announced.
