Manulife employees across the world are giving back to the communities they live in.
The company is giving each of its 35,000 workers the equivalent of $50 Canadian in their local currency to 'pay it forward' and create acts of kindness during the holidays.
"2020 has been a difficult year for many individuals, families and communities around the world - it’s challenged us to prioritize health and safety and adopt new ways of connecting and supporting each other," Manulife President and Chief Executive Officer Roy Gori said in a news release.
Manulife is doing so instead of hosting company year end celebrations, or handing out gifts.
Employees are being encouraged to share their stories of support on social media using #ManulifeActofKindness.
Manulife has offices in Waterloo Region.
I am proud and grateful to work for a company that cares about the community. Thank you @Manulife for giving each employee $50 to perform an act of kindness in our community. On #GivingTuesday I made a donation to @FoodBankWatReg as my #ManulifeActOfKindness pic.twitter.com/w7YXvvHKe8

Continuously overwhelmed (in the best way possible) by the amount of support this organization provides it’s employees and their communities 🙌🏻 If you know a healthcare worker in KW who could use an act of kindness, reach out. #ManulifeActOfKindness https://t.co/J9q1CrMXb9

We're grateful for all we’re so fortunate to have. And thank you to @Manulife for the #ManulifeActofKindness $$ given to each employee. I've donated it to @FoodBankWatReg and the timing couldn't be better as today is their #24HoursofGratitude campaign for #GivingTuesday! #FeedWR pic.twitter.com/gU3laCNlW3

As I started work today, the third email I read was from @Manulife, giving each employee $ to perform an act of kindness in our community.
