A quick police response and a citizen standing up for themselves has led to an arrest.

Waterloo Regional Police say a 74-year-old man was leaving his car around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Erb Street East and Moore Avenue when a 27-year-old man tried to take his keys, then cellphone.

The 74-year-old resisted and called for help, but not before he was hit in the head by the suspect.

Police say the suspect was quickly arrested.

A 27-year-old man from Mississauga is now facing a robbery charge.
