Andrea and Jamie Weber-Steckly are going on a road trip to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

However, in a time of social and physical distancing, the couple will be sticking much closer to home.

With plans to go to Elmira, Hamilton, and Burlington, The Steckly's will visit family and friends, chat with them in their driveway and then return to their home in Kitchener. Their trip began on Friday morning and they will continue to travel through Saturday.

"We're going to see my sister first as she has been wanting to show us her trilliums." said Andrea.

During their travels, the couple is also planning to collect donations for the food bank or House of Friendship.

According to Andrea, her and Jamie don't often get the chance to travel and had originally made plans to do a road trip to B.C. before the COVID-19 pandemic developed.

Given their circumstances, Andrea says they came up with the idea to do a 'physically distant but socially connecting mini-road trip' instead.

"For a 25th anniversary, I'm getting to spend a lot of time with my beloved. What else should one want to celebrate a good marriage?"
