Waterloo Region Integrated Drugs Strategy members are hoping a letter will bring Premier Ford and the Minister of Health, Christine Elliott, onto their side.
That's in regard to the implementation of Overdose Prevention and Safe Injection sites, which they say is the solution to addiction in Waterloo Region.
WRIDS says that just last year, at least 85 individuals have died because of a drug overdose in Waterloo Region.
Another statistic estimates that by the end of August, almost 31 individuals had lost their lives in this year alone.
They say OPS and SCS sites are key in saving lives and hope to reduce the number of overdose deaths in the future.
